Equipment and infrastructure



CERTH΄s main premises are located in Thermi-Thessaloniki in an area of approximately 30.000 m². Additional CERTH branches exist in 5 other regions (Athens, Volos, Larisa, Trikala and Ptolemaida). CERTH owns a fully equipped Conference Center which provides facilities to the companies and organisations for their professional activities. Moreover, a library exists to enrich and advance learning and research by providing access to a broad spectrum of resources for education, research, scholarship and dissemination of scientific information and knowledge in the best possible way. The CERTH-ITI building occupies a total surface of 1300 m² and includes excellent cutting-edge laboratory infrastructures, computational and high speed network facilities.

Portable Tele-Immersion platform

VCL owns several depth sensors functioning in a spatio-temporally aligned multi- view setup using Kinect v2, Intel RealSense D400 series and Kinect DK Azure. Depth sensors are the key to unlocking next level computer vision applications. Depth sensing entirely changes how people interact with technology. In AR / VR depth sensors can be used for sensing real 3D environments and reconstructing them in the virtual world. With depth sensors, we’re giving computers an entire dimension of data, vastly expanding the possibility of what computers are capable of doing. Depth sensing systems can be combined with current computer vision applications to greatly enhance their performance and meet requirement for real-life deployment.

VCL has two state-of-the-art 3D capturing stations for the live capturing of persons and their reconstruction in 3D as a textured mesh. Each station is comprised of 4 depth cameras, 5 PCs, and assorted tripods and networking.


VCL owns a XSens MVN system. XSens MVN is a flexible, camera-less full-body wearable human motion capture solution that offers superior motion capture data. Some of its strong points are that:
-It is reliable in all conditions and offers superior motion capture data with high accuracy (Xsens motion trackers are able to capture the smallest twitches to high dynamic movements on body)
-Biomechanical model and sensor fusion algorithms ensure the highest quality motion analysis
-It delivers validated data in heavily magnetically distorted environments
-It can be integrated in any real-time application
-Its intuitive interface and real-time visualization features help to focus on what is important in research
-It is optimized for use in research, sports science, ergonomics and rehabilitation


VCL owns significant GPU infrastructure with multiple NVIDIA RTX cards, designed to rapidly manipulate quickly large-scale problems using state of the art deep learning algorithms. GPUs Intelligence high parallelization features have ignited a worldwide Artificial boost to the performance of computations. GPU machines have been proven to be hundreds of times faster than CPU clusters, at one-tenth the cost.



The Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual has been developed in partnership with FLIR systems. It features a three-axis gimbal stabilized camera housing a side-by-side 4K sensor, allowing users to capture visible light and a FLIR Lepton® thermal microcamera for capturing thermal data.


The compact yet powerful Mavic Mini has the perfect balance of portability, image quality, and convenience. It has 4 km HD video transmission, three-axis gimbal holding a 2.7K camera and a physical controller that works with Android and iOS devices.
